Product Description
The ri-sonic® PCP-1 Telemedicine Stethoscope can be used without software as a standalone external microphone. It can be selected in desktop video conference platforms as the primary microphone when conducting an auscultation. Any PC, MAC or device with a microphone jack will recognize the stethoscope microphone. Sound quality is excellent but use without stethoscope software requires switching back and forth between the stethoscope and main video conference microphone. Additionally, frequency filtering and local monitoring features are not available without software. Also, the ri-sonic® PCP-1 has an internal amplifier but relies on the audio circuitry of the PC for audio processing and handling so that, on some PCs with marginal audio circuitry, newer stethoscopes like the PCP-USB can sound better. For most computers the quality is excellent, however.
The ri-sonic® PCP-1 Telemedicine Stethoscope can also be used with recently introduced eMurmur software on Android Mobile Mobile Devices and on Mac and Windows PCs (through a browser). Apple iOS phones and tablets require the PCP-USB stethoscope. See details under eMurmur software on this website. Click here for ri-sonic + eMurmur video.
With the ri-sonic® PCP-1 stethoscope, clinicians are able to perform auscultations on patients from a distance using a PC, laptop or device. The PCP-1 connects to a PC via the 3.5 mm microphone port. If the PC or Laptop only has a single universal audio port instead of separate microphone and headphone port, then a splitter will be necessary to separate the mic and headphone channels.
